SASSA Payment Dates 2026

Waiting on payday? Permanent grants are paid in the first days of the month: older persons first, then disability, then children's grants. SRD R370 has no single date. It is paid in batches late in the month, and your own date depends on when your verification is done. If a date falls on a weekend or public holiday, payment moves to the next working day.

SRD payment dates this month

SASSA does not publish one date for SRD. Approved applicants are paid from a pay run once their verification and bank details are confirmed. SASSA said in a November 2025 statement that once banking details are verified the grant is received from the next pay run.

SASSA announces the SRD window month by month. For August 2026 it confirmed payments from 24 to 26 August, according to IOL. For September it said only that SRD would be paid on rolling dates later in the month, EWN reported. Both are reports of SASSA's own announcements. Your status page shows whether a date has been set for you. Check it on the official portal.

Permanent grant payment dates

SASSA's principle, announced in March 2026, is that grants are paid as early as possible each month, spread over three days. The older persons grant goes first, the disability grant second and children's grants third. In its April 2026 schedule these fell on 2, 7 and 8 April, and in May on 5, 6 and 7 May.

For October 2026, SASSA's 2026/27 schedule gives 2 October for older persons, 5 October for disability and 6 October for children's grants. December is 2, 3 and 4 December.

November's dates were moved because of the Local Government Elections on 4 November, and National Treasury approved the change, SAnews reported on 15 October. Older persons are paid on Friday 30 October, disability on Monday 2 November and children's grants on Tuesday 3 November. Thursday 5 November is set aside for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

Some beneficiaries are paid on a fourth day, after the normal three. These are grants identified for review, and in November that day is 5 November. SASSA said in July 2026 that those beneficiaries must go to their nearest SASSA office to complete the review, and that failing to respond can lead to the grant being suspended or lapsing. The amounts for each grant are on the grant comparison page.

If your payday falls on a public holiday

SASSA's own rule, announced with its 2026/27 schedule, is that if a payment date falls on a weekend or public holiday, payment takes effect the following working day. It also avoids paying on the 1st of the month, on the day after a holiday, on Mondays and over weekends where it can.

You may see it said that SASSA pays on the last working day before a holiday instead. SASSA's statement says the opposite.

When payday falls on a weekend or public holiday PAYDAY Weekend or holiday moves to PAID The next working day SASSA's own rule, from its 2026/27 schedule announcement.

Frequently asked questions

When will SASSA pay SRD this month?

There is no fixed date. SRD is paid in batches late in the month, and approved applicants are paid once verification is done. Check your status for a date.

What happens to my payment if it falls on a public holiday?

It moves to the next working day, according to SASSA's 2026/27 schedule announcement.

My payment date has passed and the money has not arrived. What now?

Follow the steps on the payment not received page before you reapply. For SRD, an approved status with no payment often means verification or bank details are still pending, which the SRD guide explains.
