- 3Read your result for the current month

Looking for the R350 grant? It is the same grant. It was R350 a month until 1 April 2024, and it is R370 now.
What your result means
Find the word you saw on the portal.
- Pending
SASSA hasn't finished checking. For SRD that often clears within days or weeks. Don't start a second application unless SASSA tells you to.
What Pending means - Approved, no payment date
Approved is not paid. An unfinished verification or a bank account that has not verified is the usual hold-up.
Find the hold-up - Declined
SASSA decided you don't qualify for that month. The next month is assessed again, and you can appeal.
Why it happens - Identity verification failed
SASSA could not match you to your Home Affairs record. One wrong digit in your ID number is enough.
Here is the fix - Bank verification failed
The account has to be in your own name. A partner's or parent's account won't verify, even with their permission.
Here is the fix - Referred
Your application has gone for extra checks. SASSA says you must log in to the portal, request a link and complete a facial check.

A good month can turn into a bad one
SRD is checked again every month, as the Department of Social Development said when it set the rules. You can be Approved in March and Declined in April without doing anything differently. So look again each month, and don't assume last month's result still stands.

Before you type anything, read the address bar. The real portal ends in sassa.gov.za. Copycat sites are everywhere, and a fake one will take your ID number without blinking. SASSA's own You and Your Grant booklet says it never asks for your PIN, and never asks for your ID number or banking details on social media or unofficial websites. Anyone who does is not SASSA.
We don't ask for any of it either. This page has no form and stores nothing. Grants Hub is independent, not part of SASSA or the government, and the About page says who runs it.
Illustration only. The fake address is made up to show the pattern.
When will the money come?
Permanent grants are paid in the first days of the month: older persons first, then disability, then children's grants. SRD has no single payday. It comes in batches late in the month, and your own date shows on the portal once you are approved. This month's payment dates are on one page, with the source for each.

Need a person?
Call SASSA's toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11 or use its WhatsApp chatbot on 082 054 0016. These are the two official numbers, taken straight from SASSA's own booklet. You will find plenty of others online, but these are the ones SASSA publishes. To report fraud, call 0800 701 701.
Not on SRD? Each of the other SASSA grants has its own page, and the eligibility calculator shows which one fits you. The SRD R370 guide covers applying and appeals.
