The responsible party for this site is the Grants Hub team, a group of university students. Questions about your personal information go to our Information Officer at contact@grantshub.co.za.
What we do not collect
This site does not collect, ask for or store:
- your South African ID number
- a grant reference number
- your cellphone number
- your banking details or PIN
- your SASSA application details or grant status
When you check your SRD status, the button takes you to SASSA's official portal, and you type your details there. They do not pass through this site. The eligibility calculator and the means test checker work in your browser, and the answers you give are not sent to us or to anyone else. The only form on the site is the rand converter in the top bar, which takes an amount of money and nothing about you.
What we do collect
This site runs no analytics or tracking tool of its own and sets no cookies. Like any website, the server that delivers a page can see your IP address and the page you asked for. The one thing the site keeps on your device is a copy of the latest exchange rate, for six hours, so the rate chip doesn't ask for it again.
If you write to us to report an error or ask a question, we keep your message and your email address so that we can reply. We do not use it for anything else.
The rand-rate chip in the bar at the top of each page asks api.frankfurter.dev for exchange rates once the page has loaded. That service receives your IP address and browser details, as any website does when it is asked for something, and we send it nothing else. We keep the answer in your browser for six hours so it isn't asked again. The payday countdown works on your device and contacts no one.
Who sees your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that run the site, such as hosting and the exchange-rate service, and where the law requires it.
Links to other sites
This site links to SASSA, government departments and other organisations. We do not control them, and their privacy practices are their own. Always check that the address ends in sassa.gov.za before you enter personal details on a SASSA page.
Your rights under POPIA
POPIA gives you rights over your personal information. You can:
- ask whether we hold information about you, and see it
- ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date or unlawfully obtained
- object to how we use your information, including for direct marketing
Write to us at contact@grantshub.co.za and we will respond. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, which takes complaints through its eServices portal and has a toll-free number, 0800 017 160.
Changes to this policy
We will change this policy if our practices change, and we will update the date at the top of the page. For who runs the site and how facts are checked, see the About page. To check your SRD result, use the status checker, which sends you to the official portal.

What data does this site collect?
