The regional office numbers are on the SASSA offices page. For anything about a SASSA card, Postbank's toll-free line is 0800 53 54 55, according to SAnews.
There is no USSD code in the list. SASSA's booklet doesn't give one, so we don't publish one.
Which channel for which problem
- Your application has no outcome yet Visit the office where you applied, call 0800 60 10 11 or email GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za. SASSA's booklet says following up is your job.
- Your SRD result Use the SRD portal. SASSA's booklet says applicants can check their status there.
- You disagree with a decision Ask a SASSA official to help you lodge an appeal, or email Grantappeals@dsd.gov.za for a permanent grant. SRD appeals go through the SRD portal.
- You suspect fraud Use the anti-fraud line, 0800 701 701.
- Your card is lost or not working Call Postbank on 0800 53 54 55.
- A quick question SASSA lists a WhatsApp chatbot on 082 054 0016. What it can and can't answer isn't described in the booklet.
Call centre opening hours aren't in the booklet. A SASSA statement reported by SAnews in 2023 gave Monday to Friday, during business hours.
How we verify these numbers
Each number above is taken from SASSA's own publication, the "You and Your Grant" booklet, hosted by the Department of Social Development. We checked each one against it on 26 September 2026.
Only numbers from SASSA's own publication are listed here. Other websites print different WhatsApp numbers and USSD codes, and each one says it is the right one. The official WhatsApp number is 082 054 0016, from the booklet. You may also see 082 601 0111, which the advice organisation Black Sash lists, and 082 046 8553, from a 2023 SASSA statement reported by SAnews. The booklet is newer than both and lists 082 054 0016, so that is the one we publish. If a message gives you a number or a link, don't use it. Use the numbers on this page.
We recheck these numbers every month and change the date at the top of this page when we do.
Report a scam
Call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11, or the National Anti-Corruption Hotline on 0800 701 701, or email GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za. SASSA says reports can be made anonymously. Its booklet also says SASSA never asks for your PIN, and never asks for your ID number, banking details or PIN on social media or unofficial websites.
If you have already sent money or details to someone claiming to be SASSA, tell your bank straight away and report it to the police. How to spot a fake SASSA website lists the warning signs.
To check your own SRD result, use the status checker. Who runs this site and how these numbers are checked is on the About page.
